We had a fun weekend with our family. Uncle Josh, Auntie Jessi and her kids, Cousin Jamie, and Cousin Lena and her kids went with us to the Hoike (Hawaiian culture celebration) at Esther Short Park in Vancouver. The music, dancing and food were great. It was super hot, but we cooled off with real, finely powdered "shave ice" -- not the snow cone stuff where the flavor syrup runs right to the bottom of the cup. Auntie Jessi made adorable outfits for the cousins: Sunny age 0, Sebastian age 1, Cormick age 2, Halle age 3, Sophie age 4 and Riley age 5. What fun to see them all together! At Multnomah Falls we passed some young monks, and they were happy to take a picture with Sunny. I think she looks like The Golden Child in the pic, thanks to some strategic sun rays.
During this broiling week (we hit 96.5 inside the house and 109 in our backyard) we've stayed cool in our basement, and Sunny and I hopscotched from one air conditioned store to another during the worst of the heat. Washington Square Mall was never so busy--not even during the pre-Christmas rush.
love the picture with the monks. priceless!!!
