March 2014: From a Lu'au to the Islands

March could not have been better: we found our cabin.  It belongs to the nicest couple, Frank and Judy, who welcome us to use their place in the Gorge whenever we wish for free!  Yay for Craigslist and great people! We went to a lu'au and watched our "Uncle Brothers" and Auntie perform beautifully as they raised money for the Ke Kekui Foundation.  Sunny was thrilled to be babysitting the L'Etoile class pet, Tammy (the anteater) that weekend.  Her assignment was to document Tammy's adventures.  Lucky Tammy got shave ice and a show!

Sunny proudly displays her 2-page spread in Tammy's travel book, showing her lu'au adventure.
Then, back to our special place, to adventure, see family and soak up sun, fresh air, and peace...

 Look how big Ulu is!

 Our beach crew

This was a stirring rendition of "Let It Go," the year's hit song.  It lasted for 20 minutes, I think.

For St. Patrick's Day we did a menehune scavenger hunt, complete with photo clues. The kids navigated the whole property to discover some goody bags.  Max hauled Sunny and Lucca along - Halle and Sebastian are FAST!

Sunny was so proud to catch her own gecko "with NO help, Daddy!" she reported.

And so began Sunny's obsession with peacocks: spotted them beside the road, returning from a hike.

Helping Maka and Anu plant more native seedlings to replace that darn eucalyptus.

4 Wandlers & 1 Lee Kwai onboard - I don't know how Jessi and Dean do it - their fam is the best.

We did the Honolulu Zoo with cousins, aunties, uncles and grandparents - crazy fun.

We remembered Omi with a beautiful family service on her birthday. The kids played on the beach late into the night. I'm sure she loved it.
