Out & About: Trillium Festival, Walks, Family

On a Saturday sprinkled with rain and sunshine, we bundled up and biked over to Tryon Creek State Park to check out the annual Trillium Festival. They had an earthworm discovery lab set up for the kids. Sunny is a budding naturalist, and she loved using the magnifying glass, earthworm diagram, and the spray bottle to keep our invertebrate friend comfortable.

We hiked a few trail loops to find trilliums, and they were everywhere!

When Sunny wiped out, Max scooped her up...within 4 seconds she was happy again:

She did a funny little dance on the bridge. I shot this series of pics, then turned on the video, and (of course) she decided she was done dancing...

Cruisin' the neighborhood streets in search of spring flowers...this was probably her final ride in the tiny wagon, since her straight legs barely fit.

Stretching her legs at the park - note the shovel, as always!
She thought about sliding down all by herself, and then invited Daddy to join her.

Spontaneous happy dance in the sun!
Loving on Nauntie at dinner time.
Max found this great, real cowgirl hat for Sunny, since she LOVES the boots and hat Nauntie dons for line dancing. Sunny adores her cowgirl hat - when she puts it on, she says all of this, "Howdy, y'all! How y'all doin'? Yeehaw. Ride 'em, cowgirl!"
Sunny has been sitting on the potty each night before her bath, often with success. She has a special book she gets to read only while she's on the pot. We put her feet in the warm bath water to help move things along.
High-five for making pee pee in the potty!
She always chooses her reward sticker so carefully before submerging it in the bath water and letting it disintegrate.
Sunny loved seeing her cowgirl hat on Papa almost as much as she loves to wear it. Laughing SO HARD with Uncle Josh, who came up to visit during Max's 36th birthday weekend. Auntie Jodie and cousin Corinne came over to play, do bathtime and read stories. In the 2 hours they stayed, Max and I each cooked 2 different meals to enjoy later and had a (rare) chance to clean up the kitchen. THANK YOU, girls!

Typical: Sunny and her entourage, helping to brush her teeth.
Having a special musical moment with Nauntie in the morning. Sunny is so proud to have a little ukelele - thank you, Popo and Daddo!
Sun-kitty loves the piggy chair, too.
Watching Nauntie work out was clearly exhausting, but Sunny rallied with her "weights" (pegs from her toolbench toy) for some sets near the end.
