Arcata, California Trip

A couple of weeks ago we all (Max, me, Kelly and Sunny) drove down to Arcata to visit Grandma & Grandpa and meet Sunny's new cousin, Miles - Jeff and Courtney's baby.

Here are little Jeff and JJ... 9 months apart in age. And here we are now, with our own kids. Miles and Sunny are just over 1 year apart.

Proud aunties to Miles - what a sweet little guy.

This old photo of me and my mom reminds me so much of Sunny's expression. But in Sunny's case and mine, where'd all those dominant genes end up? Sunny loved pointing at Miles and saying, "Baby, baby." Jeff and Courtney are awesome parents, and they made lots of time to hang out with us. That's hard when you have a new baby - thanks, guys! We love you and wish we could see you all more often. Sunny loved Cookie. When she had trouble sleeping at night, Nauntie had Cookie lay down beside Sunny's pack n' play - it did the trick. The two slept all night long, side by side.Mama and Sunny dancing in front of the Los Bagels mural in Arcata. Daddy and Sunny try a "teether bagel."

Farmer's Market loot - on the Arcata Plaza with Grandpa and Grandma.
More Miles time - couldn't get enough of him!
B.O.B.s n' babies, on the cousins' first walk together. Wow, Courtney - a 3-mile + stroll so soon?! Impressive!
Grandma and Miles enjoy a snuggle.
Where Mama and Nauntie grew up: our own Camp Redwood. It was fun to show Sunny the backyard...3 acres of forest with a stream running through it. Too bad we can't transport the whole place (and Grandma, Grandpa and Miles's family) a little closer to Portland.

Babies JJ, Kelly and Jeff all toddled around on this lawn. It's cool to see pictures of Sunny on the property that look so similar to pictures of little me.

Grandpa's office manager and friend, Karin, showed us around her farm in Arcata. What fun! Sunny loved meeting the chickens, ducks, horses and goats, and she made another dog friend. We went home with delicious homegrown/homemade creamy chevre and some lavender. We ate it on crackers with honey that night. Thank you, Karin!
In the background is the historic Jacoby Creek Schoolhouse - the original location of my elementary school. We took Sunny around my old school, and she loved the playground.
