My, how time flies.
Why we love our neighborhood: great neighbors and grassroots involvement. We erected and mosaic'd our message board at the park. It's a monument to the power of community!
Out touchin' nature with Nauntie and Sean.
Touchin' nature with Mama in our own backyard: finding slugs and worms for our ducklings to snack on.
Look who's growing up fast.
Check this out! On 6/8/12: We love how much Sunny enjoys putting on her clothes- in LAYERS! Today during nap time she was quietly dressing herself in her room...silent and sneaky until she yelped with frustration. We heard the sound, went in and found her struggling to put on another pair of socks, and her "feet hurt." She was wearing: 1 pull-up, 1 headband, 5 shirts, 1 bib, 3 pairs of thick warm tights, 11 pairs of socks, 3 tutus and 14 panties!
Serving tea to Grandpa and Grandma in her fort...upstairs. They came up to visit and celebrate her 3rd birthday with us. Our birthday trip to Enchanted Forest was fun and weird, in that carnie kind of way.
She went from a little freaked to oh-so-proud in this ferris wheel "cage" ride.
We had a Hawaiian joint-birthday lunch with Uncle Scott, her twin - they're sporting birthday stickers.
So proud to be 3 years old!
And a little worn out, too.
Garden pixie pics.
Birthday go-carting at the beach: Yes, she's way under the size requirement, but it was just us - Popo, Daddo, Max and us, so the owner let us go for it. Sunny loved zooming around the track!
We're always looking for an excuse to have a campfire with marshmallows!
We "culled" the 4 male ducks from our flock by taking them to live (really) at a friend's farm. We identified the males by their lack of loud quacking. Max and I grabbed the ducks one by one, and those who could quack loudly in protest were the males. We were skeptical since 2 of the biggest ducks ended up quacking like girls, so I called the breeder/expert, David Holderread. He overheard the ducks in the background during our chat, and he could easily confirm we were keeping the egg-laying type.
While we were at the farm, we bottle-fed calves and found a kitten - Sunny's first time holding one. She was stoked, with a crazy gleam in her eye.
Fun with Papa.
