Our Ohana/Family: July - Fun at the Lake

We road-tripped to Lake Almanor to celebrate the 4th of July with Nauntie & Uncle Sean, Sean's parents, and my parents. What a blast! It was Sunny's first visit to the mountain vacation cabin that my mom, and then my family, grew up with. Sunny made it 9 1/2 hours in the car with no fussing - we sang, talked, made up stories, played games and listened to music. And we showed her a couple of Disney "music videos" (princesses singing their songs) on the phone to sweeten the deal.

We explored Subway Cave together - it was a good way to get the wiggles out before more car time.

Playing at the Rec Area like Nauntie and I...and Grandma used to do! It's a great place for all ages, but especially for little ones.

Happy fun-tubing with Daddy at 4 mph. Sunny started to get nervous in the boat at Max jumped onto the tube. We promptly put her in the tube on Max's lap, wearing all her clothes, to demonstrate to her how it's no big deal - she wouldn't even get wet. And she didn't. Next summer she'll be a bit more adventurous.

Dance party at the rec - groovin' with ear protection, since the live band was loud. Ever the helpful socialite, Sunny encouraged Max and I to "introduce yourself!" to many folks. We made a lot of friends.

We can see the radio tower from our window, so we went on a mission to check it out!

Sunny can reach the countertop already...time to reorganize the kitchen.

Best friends! Olivia and Sunny. Olivia calls her "Sun-Sun" for fun. They're 2 months apart, and chose each other at school for "best friends ever." They sync up their speech patterns, style and body language to mimic each other...after a few minutes for "calibration," it's like watching mirror images!
