Here we are about to board the Battleship Missouri at Pearl Harbor.

We were saying, "Don't push THAT button!" in our most melodramatic voices, and Sunny (of course) LOVED to push it.

Sunny's making her first public address here.

"Want to drive the motorboat!?"

At the USS Arizona Memorial.

Walking in Pearl Harbor with her game face on.

Later, we went to Sunny and Max's first luau: an excellent investment. We all had a blast.

Here's Sunny trying poi for the first time.
Bleh! It's your heritage, Sunny - try to like it.

She went on the stage with the other
keikis to dance. The first time up, she cried and asked to "get down and go see Daddy." I immediately complied. As soon as we were offstage, she said, "
Ok. Want to dance. Go on the stage?" And we made our surprise comeback, to the crowd's delight. That's so Max: to be drawn to conquer what you fear. Cool.

Joyous times on the lawns around the Paradise Cove luau.

This luau included boat rides, which Sunny adores - she's big into boats.

There were 2 sea turtles in the cove, and this one came right up to Max and Sunny, bumping into him.

The parrots and their colors - plus the fact that people could hold them for photos - fascinated Sunny.

Sunny got a "tattoo" of a flower from the pretty lady.

Max skewered the bulls eye with his throwing spear (a broomstick handle, pretty much), astounding the employee. Most of the tourists' throws totally missed or bonked off to the side. (Um, my own attempt was not photo-worthy)

The coconut tree climbing demo was cool. Sunny kept calling them "
Chicka-
Chicka-Boom-Boom trees" because of a favorite storybook.

The climber tossed down orchids to the crowd, and we caught some.

This is the fishing net throwing demo.

Sunset in paradise.

Sunny loved the
kahlua pig and the
haupia jello.

She called the hula girls "dancing girls" and the guys were "fire boys," thanks to a fire dancing demonstration.

Sunny returned to the stage for an encore performance. Since we've been home, we took her to hear live music and dance at the
Multnomah Arts Center. The musicians were on stage, and it was all very cool...till her face fell and she said, "Want to dance! Please, want to dance!" I replied, "Sunny, we ARE dancing. I'm dancing with you. We're dancing." She fussed a bit and repeated her demand. Then I said, "Well, where do you want to dance?" She pointed up at the musicians and said, "Want to dance right THERE, on the stage!" Oh, boy.
