The Winter That Wasn't: 2015

During a winter that's slammed most of the country with extreme cold and huge storms, Portland has enjoyed a mild, dry season. It's both enjoyable and scary to need to water our plant starts in March.  We've been busy playing both outside in the sun and inside with our silly kitten, Panda Bear.
 Cousin love @ Papa's house

Ready to ride, just like her cousins.

Full contact taekwondo in our neighborhood.  "HIII!" she's yelling.
Goofing off at the mall on a dreary day.
Visiting little Panda Bear a few weeks before we could take her home...

Jammin' with buddy Owen while our Ducks lost the national championship game.  :(

Sunny's excelled in her pre-otter swim class, and next she heads to pre-seal.  She can glide on her back while kicking and she can do about 6 crawl strokes in a row. But when she goes to side breathe, she takes a breath with her ear in the water and then just pops up and wipes off her face. So close! Swim sessions in Hawaii should help.

Breakfast at Daddy's lovely breakfast bar!  It's a treat to watch the squirrels and birds.
Sunny and Max constructed a cool cat tree for a few bucks.
At NW KidsFest Sunny made a friend, Addie, while the kids watched a "Frozen" show. Only later did we realize she's the daughter of my sorority sister, Kylie - it's fun to reconnect!
Sunny was geared up and fired up to take the scooter for a slow short spin around the block.
Sunny in her school gear: she wears this dress every day, though it's one of many options.

Welcome to your new home, Panda Bear! It took her a few days to come out of her shell, but she is OUT now. She sleeps on her back and lets us pose her legs without waking up, she climbs things like there's velcro involved, and she plays with absolutely everything (include finger painting with poop one time - very unfortunate).

 Daddy-Daughter Night - 2nd time!
 Happy Valentine's Day!

We did the 4T Trail and Sunny loved it - she did the hilly 4+ mile hike herself ("Trail"), and then we rode the Tram, the Trolley (Streetcar) and the Train to complete the 4T Trail loop. She's doing "Ts."
Fro-Yo break with Nauntie and Uncle Sean!
We had a fun visit with the Kelley crew.
Bedtime buddies: Panda Bear falls asleep with Sunny each night.

We went on a discovery hike with Papa and enjoyed this community rest spot.

Making sketches/notes about nature in the garden...

We hand-pollinated our plum trees over a few days to play it safe, since our bees (we have a mason bee house) weren't awake yet.  We're determined to get fruit this summer!

 Whiskey-Pig!

Flying - it happens often in our house.

Family scoot to the forest park, 5 minutes away...

At the Upper Latourell Falls in the Gorge, a great hike for kids. We did it with Addie, Kylie and family.

Spring blossom walks in our neighborhood...though there are still 2 weeks of winter left!

Enjoying the warm day with Nauntie, Uncle Sean, Panda Bear, Whiskey and Sun-Kitty.

Sand boxing in winter in a t-shirt and panties?! It was that warm.

 Feels like summer: so weird!
Look at what a great climber we have! She wanted to come outside again.
