Farewell Nauntie & Late September Fun

Nauntie moved out of Camp Lee Kwai at the end of summer, and we all miss her smile around here! Sunny still calls up the stairs sometimes, "Hey, Nauntie," forgetting she's gone. Nauntie lived with us (and helped raise Sunny!) for 2 years. She moved in when Sunny was almost 3 months old! Sunny's first roll-over was on Nauntie's bed. We have very special memories. Now, going to play at Nauntie & Sean's house is a special treat, and Nauntie has some cool holiday traditions coming soon.

Here we are in Bend with Grandma, Grandpa, Nauntie and Sean for our cousin Emily's
wedding.

Our first camping trip with Sunny was a huge hit! We skipped work and camped out on a Thursday night to avoid the crowds, stealing Uncle Scott to come along. Sunny prowled the campsite, hunted chipmunks, and foraged for blackberries. When she awoke in the tent the following day, she shouted, "We're camping!" with glee.

Playing with the tent - simple fun.

Blackberries for dessert - awesome!

Max has been working hard on designing and building Sunny's palatial playhouse. Sunny loves to be his project helper. She knows the tool names and is great about passing the level, counting out screws, and drumming on all available surfaces with wood scraps.

Here she's ready for anything: ear protection, supply pack, rake, shovel, even a poop bag (!) - she only forgot her pants!

The playhouse takes shape - it'll be 2 levels with a loft!

Uncle Scott is always ready for spontaneous fun. Here he is surprising Sunny at the Golden Touch - we had a fun breakfast.

Sunny was teetering around for a few precarious minutes in Nauntie's high heels, and then she sort of flopped down to the carpet, kicked off the shoes, and cradled her feet in her hands: "Poor toes. Oh, poor toes," she said. Exactly, Sunny - one of many reasons I don't wear heels.

Sunny took "her" soccer practices seriously this summer. Our neighbors coach & play, so Sunny was always invited to join big girls in their warm-up and stretching circle.

Our tiny coach-to-be, issuing orders during drills.
