Baby Duck's Halloween

Max took Sunny to meet Papa and Omi at the pumpkin patch while I enjoyed a spa morning.
Sunny loved the train...

On the night before Halloween, Sunny and Grandpa got a surprise visit from Lady Gaga! (Nauntie, looking the part!) Sunny repeated "bubbles" and touched Nauntie's bubbles..a good preview of what many adults would do later.
Yes, as you can tell from her face, I woke Sunny up in the night to meet Lady Gaga. I don't want her to miss cool things, just because she's little.
Daddy and Sunny are excited - Halloween morning.
Look at those pumpkin shoes - thank you, Popo!
We all went to Nauntie's Halloween soccer game to cheer her on. Sunny played in the trees at the park.
I can't remember a prettier Halloween morning.
"Go, Nauntie! Yay, Nauntie! Running, Nauntie!" Sunny yelled. And Nauntie scored a goal - awesome.

Here we are, dressed up to trick-or-treat in Multnomah Village. It was a 2-4 pm event that jam-packed the sidewalks to a standstill. Sunny loved seeing all the kids in costume, and our baby duck got lots of compliments. Daddy, as Robo-Duck (complete with lights for eyes) got lots of props, too. We'll keep an eye out in the neighborhood papers, since lots of people asked them to stop for a picture.
The girls in the Village: Grandma, Nauntie, Mama and Sunny-duck. Ok, yes: it's really more of a "chick" costume, but luckily most people didn't notice that. They saw our Oregon gear and made the leap to "baby duck," unassisted.
Pausing to sample her loot...Sunny said "Trick-or-Treat" and "thank you" a few times, but mostly she said "please" or just flashed a hopeful smile at the candy givers.
Grandma, Grandpa and Sunny had such a fun weekend together. They helped us decorate our house to a whole new level, and Sunny has been searching the house for them hourly, since they left on Monday. She wakes up in the morning calling for them, too.
"Grandpa-Moon," Sunny called him.
"Go Ducks!" Sunny loves to shout. The Oregon Ducks are now officially #1 in the nation - we couldn't be more excited!
A pit stop to check in the pumpkin.

Relishing a little sucker - the suckers were her favorite. She had 2 and the day after Halloween, I let her taste a bit of every piece of candy we hadn't already stolen. Yes, that would be me AND Max, Kelly, Grandma and Grandpa ALL doing the stealing. She bounced off the walls (literally) and jumped up and down on the couch waving her arms like she could fly for a couple of hours. Sugar is fun.
Sunny wanted a break from trick-or-treating to play at the park in Multnomah Village, but she wouldn't set down her pumpkin. She had a death-grip on that thing, even when it got heavy with candy. I hope baby's arms don't cramp up.
Are the arm cramps setting in, or is this a good old-fashioned meltdown/sugar crash? We'll never know, but I think she's so cute when she cries...I took a few pics.

Miraculously, we went to dinner, went home, regrouped, and Sunny was ready to hit the streets again a couple of hours later...this time, in our neighborhood, going to actual front doors.
Robo-Duck arrived to escort us again. Sunny wasn't worried by Max's suit or mask, but he did lift the helmet piece often to say hi. I didn't see her take issue with any of the costumes we saw.

Good thing Uncle Scott is carrying her - this ducky looks tired enough for a face plant!
Rally-time: Sunny found the energy to toddle (waddle, really, in that suit with the big belly) another few blocks so we could greet our neighbors and friends.
Wow. Words cannot express it. We are so very lucky to have her.

  1. We feel the same...so lucky to have her too! What a fun and exciting weekend...and what a cute baby duck! We've watched the video you sent us of her trick-or-treating at night and Sebastian is still a little unsure of Robo-Duck...he knows it's Uncle Max, just unsure why he wanted to dress up with "carry (scarey) eyes". You're the cutest Sunny Ducky! We love you!
