A Perfect Weekend

Our long Labor Day weekend was packed with fun...starting with some silliness on Friday. I asked Sunny, "What happened to Daddy?" She shrugged with her palms up, saying "I dunno" over and over.
Max just made this butterfly mobile for Sunny's room, so the whole ceiling is kinetic with kites and creatures whenever the fan is on.
GO DUCKS! Sunny's first football game went great. Here she and Max are crossing the footbridge to Alton Baker Park...

Sunny wore her earmuffs a bit, and then yanked them off. She clapped when we did and threw both arms straight up in spontaneous joy (we were both clapping) when we scored the first of many touchdowns in a shut-out season opener. We only saw about 1/2 of the first half since Sunny was so busy. We took turns walking her around the stadium. Auntie Jodie ("Jo-Jo") and family were also at the game, and they scooped Sunny up to play during halftime....Then Max and I got to sit together and actually watch the action until the 4th quarter. Thank you, Kelleys!

We explained that Mama and Daddy met at the Univeristy of Oregon, and Sunny seemed impressed. I'm pretty sure Eugene's biggest impression on Sunny came from a car lot decked out in green and yellow balloons. Sunny repeated "Wow, booms! Wow, booms!" through a long red light as we waited in traffic. But she liked the UO Marching Band's music, too - dancing along.

One of Sunny's early words was bra ("bah" as in Bah, Humbug!), and she remains very interested in them. She was wearing this one around her neck as she strolled around the house, so I helped her get it properly situated. I've noticed that all shiny surfaces in our house are covered in sticky hand and fingerprints, no matter how often we clean...

Cannon Beach! We went from Eugene to Portland, and then over to the beach the next day. We had great beach weather on Sunday.

The sunglasses looked great and stayed on for about 10 minutes - a new record.

Naked baby!

Our little sand monster.
Hmmm, do you think she's having any fun?!
Getting fresh and cozy in a nice warm bath, with Audrey "Au-jus" looking on.
Party in the back~Sunny's hair keeps growing and curling...
A very toothy grin!
Here I am, feeding the wildlife in downtown Cannon Beach. Poppyseed muffins from Haystack Bakery are our favorite - we even modeled our wedding cake after them 8 years ago (August 24, 2002).
Another tiger sighting!
Roaring as she explores the neighborhood...

A bundled-up beach trip today - see Satchel watching the action?

How I love her little feet and toes!
Daddo, Sunny and Popo. She says "Daddo" now about as much as she used to say Da-da. It's super cute - in the night we'll hear "daddo, daddo, daddo, daaahhh-doh!" and throughout the day. The D's must roll off her tongue best!

We stopped at a U-Pick farm on the way home for some exploring and Fall-ish photos.

Sunny the conversationalist: she's starting to craft words combinations besides "I dunno." Like "big dog" and "bathtime nigh-night." She uses "please" as her secret weapon to get what she wants. (Could be worse!) And she answers questions, repeating a word for the affirmative: "Sunny, did you go poopoo?" "Poopoo." Or: "Sunny, did you know that water comes from the clouds?" "No."
